6/3 The crew of Tom, Dean and John arrived at Jacksonville airport in afternoon. Boarded boat had cocktails and cabbed to dinner at Golden Grouper rest in Fernandina Beach 6/4 0915-1730 Left FB after pump out. Just cleared marina channel a little past low tide. ICW to St Simons Is. thru mostly marshland. Weather hot 95. Dinner at brew pub at marina was good. Nice Marina.

6/5 0750-1850 Hot and windy 20kts from SW. Covered 88 SM in 11 hours. Very homogeneous terrain marshland virtually all day till a few miles from Thunderbolt (Savannah). All took turns at the helm Lots of ranges and close navigation. Many inlets and sounds to cross. Ran at 7- 11 kts... depending on current. Anchored in Herb River.. south of Savannah. Dinner a la Deano, movies (Great Train Robbery) followed by NBA playoff game 2 were activities at anchor.

 

6/6 1115-1215 Weighed anchor and motored 2 mi. to Thunderbolt Marina. Repaired power cable. Cabbed to Savannah for walking tour. Nice waterfront area - touristy, but very unimpressive outside the waterfront.

Stopped for provisions. Came back that evening for dinner at 45 South which was excellent. The evening movie was Little Big Man. Late night 0130!

6/7 0800-1820 Departed Thunderbolt. Day was windy and cool (for a change). 20 kts. and 60's. Much more interesting scenery today. Beaufort SC was very quaint. Nice waterfront park and walk. Lunch at Plums w/view of waterfront. Moored on transient dock for 3 hours, departed at 1600 to anchorage in Parrot Creek, about 1mi off ICW. Arrived 1820. Dinner a la Dean again - port tenders, green beans and potatoes. Several btls... wine followed by movie "The Hard Way" and great after dinner port session on bridge. Cool night, full moon great sleeping.

6/8 0902-1615 Departed Parrot Creek for Charleston. Perfect weather cool & sunny. Interesting shoreline many docks and large houses, particularly as we approached Charleston. Charleston was quite interesting, large harbor, picturesque. Overnighted at ?? Marina. Lots of jellyfish around boat. Dinner at ?, a cab ride away.

6/9 0715-1830 Got early start, good views of the city and harbor on way out ships channel. Cruised off shore for first time and ran from 4-7 mi off the coast to Georgetown and beyond. Light breeze increased to 20 kts. by afternoon. Entered ICW again at Winyah Bay. Stopped at Harbor walk Marina in Georgetown for fuel and groceries. Continued for another 2.5 hours to anchorage in tree lined and secluded spot on the waterway. Pasta and sausage dinner. Another late night 2am for some. Movie "Outland" with Sean Connery (fair).

6/10 0745-1630 ICW for final leg. Nice scenery - many homes, docks & marinas along the waterway. Passed through Myrtle Beach. Overcast most of day and thunderstorm in early afternoon. Lunch enroute.

Arrived Southport Marina at 1615. Dinner at Mr. P's Bistro - great food, 5 blocks from marina. Hired Elizabeth to clean up boat for $200 (did poor job). 50 hours on engines this leg, 107 total. Cabbed to Wilmington for flights back to KC.
